paula

'Paula - My story so far' by Paula Radcliffe was published by Simon & Schuster in 2004.

Paula writes:

'In July there was another round of x-rays, and finally a bone scan. It was discovered that, in fact, the problem was a stress fracture. With Dad, I went to see Simon Costain at his Harley Street surgery in London. After doing some analysis, he showed how the source of the problem was a collapsed arch. 'The actual stress fracture,' said Simon, 'won't get better until you get the arch corrected. And that won't happen without some arch support.' He made rigid orthotic supports for my arch that would be inserted into whatever shoes I wore.'

ray

Ray Mouncey is a remarkable solo epic runner for charity. His son is terminally ill and from this springs his endless drive and motivation to succeed. He is known for:
... a 1001 mile run through temperatures touching 50C in one of the hottest places on earth, Death Valley, California ... a 95 day run across the USA, from Los Angeles to Florida, completing a 26 mile marathon every day.

'I run long distance solo runs in the hottest desert in the world, Death Valley in California. To do this I need complete confidence in my preparation before and recovery after these massive marathons. The Simon Costain Gait and Posture Centre is essential to my success; the excellent treatment from Simon and his team ensures that my feet, ankles and lower limbs are fit and ready for the challenge of these awesome runs.'

Cann

2nd in the English national badminton singles rankings, Elizabeth Cann started playing when she was very young with her parents and brother and she could feel that there was something wrong with her legs:

'I went to doctor after doctor and they all said there was nothing wrong with me! But I had been walking around with a 3cm difference in leg length - orthotics from Simon Costain sorted the problem out. I now have two pairs, one for training and one for match play and they have made all the difference.'
